Comparaison inter-laboratoires (CIL) sur l’étalonnage de masses / Proficiency Testing (PT) on mass calibration (2024-2025)

The mass calibration inter-laboratory comparison is aimed at ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratories, as well as testing and analysis laboratories that carry out their own calibrations of mass. This ILC is organised under COFRAC accreditation, in accordance with scope no. 1-7127 (scope available at www.cofrac.fr). www.cofrac.fr).

Mass calibration PT

The proficiency testinf concerns the calibration of 8 weights with nominal masses: 2mg, 20mg, 200mg, 2g, 20g, 200g 2kg et 20kg

Calibration by comparison

The most appropriate calibration method is the comparison of the mass to be calibrated with a standard mass of equivalent nominal value, using a comparator or a balance. Numbers of repetitions and calibration cycles are left to the participant's choice. His own procedure must be used as well as his own calibration means (standards, comparators/balances).

Participants may register for one or more masses. It is not compulsory to calibrate all the proposed weights. However, reporting the calibration uncertainty is a prerequisite for participation in this ILC.

A detailed protocol will be provided to each participant at the beginning of the campaign.

PT organization

Each participant will have to calibrate the masses within one week, according to his availability previously communicated to the PT coordinator. All the masses will be circulated successively among the participating laboratories.

All the useful information is detailed in the fact sheet below:
